Mail 10.6.5. - Crazy Problems - Disappearing Accounts on Multiple Machines

My mail on my MacPro started crashing yesterday. Mail accounts (POP and Apple) disappeared. I replaced the mail.plist file and all's well, for like 5 minutes. Then one account or two would disappear, or maybe all. Then I noticed the same thing was happening on my MacBookPro, delayed, mirroring what was happening on the tower. So, some research suggested also replacing the address.plists along with the mail.plist. Which I've done now multiple times on both machines with older time machine versions from like 10 days ago. Each time all appears well, accounts show up, mail comes in, then either crashes, or one or more accounts disappear from the left menu.

HELP! Is it a virus? A Bug in recent Mac software auto upgrades?

I have to say, because its happening on two separate machines simultaneously, this is the weirdest system problem I've had in 25 years of Mac use.

I think it might be a bug. What I did to fix mine was:

1. Make sure I have no email sitting in my InBox.

2. Write down the email Accounts that I am connecting to.

3. Quit mail.

4. Navigate to to the folder /HardDrive/Users/MyUserName/Library/Preferences/ and take the file com.apple.mail.plist, and trash can it.

5. Restart the Mail Application and manually add my email accounts back into Mail.

I know this is a little of work but it has been rock steady for weeks now. However your mileage may very.
