mail 2 on OS10.411 grey mail inbox

Hi my partner inadvertently deleted a mailbox today. I want to try and restore it. because its greyed out in all dialogues rebuild etc. i cant do anything with it. Its showing 240 new msgs. beside it but nothing in the viewer. Its a POP account and the inbox behaves like its totally unresponsive. The smart money would be on deleting the whole account and creating a new one. The problem being I am having trouble getting the other computer on my network to import the sent mailbox etc. from the dodgy computer. I get a msg straight away saying "i can find the boxes in the import on the sidebar". I have tried restarts permission repairs on both but to no avail.
Any help would be much appreciated as this is really stumping me.

Let's check if the Mail Box is still even there. Your Mail boxes are actually kept in /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/.
 
the inbox is showing up under the correct pop server with the info plist beside it. The permissions appear to be okay. Its definitely the one that was deleted as it is only 700kb.
 
Hi Just pulled out my plist out of preferences shook it off and reinstalled it and voila. away and racing I hope one day they will get rid of these little bugs in mail and get it to play nice with all the other mail apps out there. Does anyone know if mail 3 sends tidy attachments to windows based mail apps? Thanks guys...
