I am upgrading to a new Mac. I sold my old Mac on ebay and I have an external drive to copy things that I will need once I get the new machine. I am not sure what to do about Mail. I have about 5 folders that I place important emails into. How dow I save these folders and the emails in them to copy over to my new Mac. I have the same question with Safari. I have a bunch of folders with web sites that I want to have access to with my new Mac. Finally, I have a OSX 10 disk and I want to leave just a clean install of it on my sytem. Besides running the disk, is there anything I need to do to make sure none of my personal information and/or passwords are left on the system? Thanks in advance for any help.

1. Transfer Safari Bookmarks: The Safari file for Bookmarks is in /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Safari/ . Move the appropriate files to the same location on the new Mac.

2. Mail Boxes: Location of personal files: /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/ .

3. Clean a Hard disk: Read this article from Macworld and it will describe about zeroing out your data.

Good Luck.

In addition to the Library/Mail folder you might want to copy across the

Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist file.

I suppose you have already done what needs to be done... but just incase you have not... I suggest that you use Carboncopy Cloner to clone your current HDD to your external drive.. then erase and reinstall a clean system to the box you are selling... then when you get the new machine... hook up the drive (fire wire?) and when the transfer utility starts up and asks you if you want to transfer info from an OLD computer or drive.. say yes! and copy your user accounts and (or) selected applications, files and folders to your new machine.

;-) Your welcome
