Mail.app freezes

I have completed reformatted and resinstalled Mac OS X 10.1 and whenever I launch mail it will not send any email, but will recieve and it will not quite. I must Force Quit the appplication.

Any suggestions would be apprecited.

This sounds like it has to be in your settings open preferences and check (edit) each account to make sure the settings are absolutely correct, i.e the send and receive ISP configurations.
Also try opening the activity viewer to see if it is in action all the time which may be why you can't quit (mail is quite slow getting going and quitting)
