Mail.app + Gmail IMAP

Hi,
Recently I have migrated to OS X 10.5 and set up all my mail accounts in the new Apple Mail. One of them is Gmail which I'm using via IMAP. My Gmail inbox size is approximately 2GB, 6000 messages or so. I have a small HD so I want to keep only messages without attachments on my disk (for my other IMAP account with 20k messages it takes +/- 300MB). It's been over a week now and Mail.app keeps downloading around 3GB of data per day and the inbox on my HD just exceeded 4GB in size. Moreover, I can't see any mail activity in the Mail.app window. Is there any known reason and solution to this problem? What's going on? This is driving me crazy, now only 400MB left on my hard drive :/
Thanks a lot for any suggestions,
Dominik

I checked mail from 10.4 and i can select to save only the messages without the attachments. This is a preference for each account under the tab advanced (translated as i use a non-english mail version).

Select what you want mail to retreive and your harddrive should not be filled up so quickly.

Good luck, Kees
