I have had this issue ever since I got my macbook (with Leopard), but until now I somehow lived with it. Now it's driving me crazy and I really wish I could solve it.
Mail's outgoing speed is ridiculously slow (under 5 kb/s), and even worse, it often comes to a complete halt (0 kb/s) and I get an error message:
"Cannot send message using server smtp.gmail.com: (username)
Sending the message content to the server failed..."
This happens almost every time I try to a message above a few 100 kb. Then it just hangs in my outbox and at after a few tries it usually manages to come through.
Curiously, during the first few seconds of transfer my outgoing speed is often somewhere around 60-70 kb/s and then drops and even halts.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks a lot.
David
ps. this is the case for all my mail accounts, gmail and not gmail.
