Mail.app (??????)

When I open an email, the header looks different. The lines are out of order and spaced widely apart. Here is the message in the Console log: Nov 21 14:48:35 BabaKarmysue /Applications/Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail: CGContextSetLineWidth: invalid line width: negative values are not allowed.

Have you checked what fonts are set to in Mail's Preferences, under "Fonts & Colors?"

That doesn't seem to make a difference, although this problem started when I was trying to clean some corrupted fonts. I followed the direstions for FontBook.app and all hell broke loose.
