I have several times had my G5 stall, apparently because of mail problems. If I then crash the machine, as I have to, it takes quite a while coming back in (this entails the fan or disk speeding up to high speed before the Apple icon shows and the machine restarts). Several times after this has happened I find all my mail accounts erased and my inbox and sent box wiped out. Reloading my accounts and recovering some (backed up) in and out mail takes a considerable amount of time, and I inevitably lose records. This has now happened several times (not every time with the mailboxes and accounts cleaned out). Any thoughts? It's incredibly time consuming and causes great stress.
Many thanks,
Glenn
