Mail Died

every time i open mail, it "runs" get mail, shows incoming messages, but does not download to my inbox. i have to go to the earthlink webmail to view my mail. i also cant send any messages - it gives me this error: The message could not be appended to the Outbox. or if i click on a draft...

The message from [__________] <____________> concerning “____” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.

i trashed my prefs a couple times and relaunched but still not working. someone please help! i can't stand webmail!!!!

Did you only trash your prefs or also your mailboxes ? Have you checked your account settings thrice and retyped all passwords ?

everything was done...but how do u trash mailboxes..ill get back to u if it works. i even tried rebuilding the mailbox from within the mailbox menu in mail.

There's a Mail folder in your ~/Library. You could try to move it somewhere else on disk, zip it (as backup), launch Mail, re-create your accounts and see if it now works. If it does, then it was an authentification problem, or some other corrupted piece of data. If it doesn't, I guess that means Mail.app is having a problem.
