Mail in Panther supports Exchange

I don't know if anyone else noticed that? And with TextEdit being .doc compatible, that means a complete good-bye to Microsoft products for many

I guess Apple is doing this to convert people to Mac more smoothly - they can still use their old, bad Microsoft based networks when switching to Mac. I don't see why Microsoft is obviously licensing this to Apple, seems like a tactical bummer for them.

It's really not much of an innovation - it now supports Exchange by retrieving mail via IMAP and sending mail via SMTP, which it did before. As far as I can tell they just added an "Exchange" tab to make it a bit more intuitive than it had been.
