Just came back from a trip during which I used the Mail app from a variety of sources without changing any prefs. Now I'm back home and I can receive new POP mail, but I can't send out SMTP mail. Everything is exactly the way I left it, and I can't think of where to start. Any ideas?
 
I actually have the opposite, when I'm away from our network I can receive but not send. I found out that even though our ISP doesn't require SMTP authentication to send mail, that if I enter it in, I can send from anywhere.

Just an idea, doesn't hurt to try it out.
 
Your ISP may have changed their agreement etc. Some ISPs require their authentication for all outgoing mail. Just like some places block you from reaching any other than specified emails.
