On 15" Powerbook, OS 10.3.2, having just copied over the Home folder from another 15" PB ---->>>> MAIL.app QUITS immediately upon opening, with Unexpectedly Quit message from the Finder.
NONE of Mail's windows opens and, aside from the error message, there is no hint that Mail even started.
I tried all these without success:
1. Removed Library/Preference file - mail / plist.
2. Ran MacJanitor.
3. Ran Repair Permissions.
4. Started up in Safe Boot (holding down shift key) which I believe runs tests and eliminates bad effect of non-apple kernal extensions.
5. Rebooted on another OS X disk on another partition on same computer. Ran Disk Utility Repair. No errors reported at all. Reports it is repaired.
Note: Say Disk A is the one I usually use where the Mail app won't open. When I boot from Disk B (different partition, same computer), the Mail app on Disk B opens fine. If, having booted from Disk B, I try to launch Mail app on Disk A, there is no bounce and no error message; nothing happens.
I'm guessing there may be a corrupt mail file? or mail folder? If so, how can it be found without destroying all the mail folders? Or some other corrupt pref file?
What other causes could there be? And solutions?
