Mail stops responding instantly...

Whenever Mail opens, it immediately stops responding. This happens EVERY time. What can I do? Is there a way to reinstall Mail?
 
You don't have to reinstall. Just reset it. Deleting the preferences should do -
/Users/<you>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

If a message is causing the problem, you may have to clear out
/Users/<you>/Library/Mail or
/Users/<you>/Library/Mail Downloads
 
Yes, deleting those files will completely reset mail - and you'll loose all Mail messages by deleting the Mail folder - so back them up if you need the files.
