I have a macbook pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running 10.5.8) and i am running mail Version 3.6 (936). I have my website/email hosted with ipage.com. All of a sudden, with no changes in my mail settings, i am getting the error message "ipage: trying to log into this SMTP account failed. Please make sure the username and password are correct".
As I have not changed these settings (and i logged onto my webmail account to be sure that the settings are the same), so I called ipage phone support and they tell me it must be a "MAC update problem" and that I should contact a Mac forum to determine what is wrong.
I called back and the second time spoke with an ipage.com tech rep who admitted that other mac mail users were calling in with the same problem. I know it is ipage, because my other email accounts, from different domains hosted with different companies, are working just fine---like before.
can you offer me any advice---either directly or to help pose a question that i can put to ipage.com so that this issue can be resolved. I can log onto my webmail account, but this is cumbersome and does not allow me the flexibility and ease of using Mail.
thank you
