Okay, here's what I did. I went to Home/Library/Mail and I deleted everything that WASN'T A FOLDER:
Defaultcounts
EnvelopeIndex
EnvelopeIndex-Journaled
LSMMG02
MessageRules.plist
MessageSorting.plist
(and backup)
OpenedAttachments
SmartMail
SmartMailboxes.plist.backup
EXCEPT: The signatures.plist
Logged Out.
Logged back on.
Window dropped down with "Welcome to Tiger Mail. You can't use this until you import your folders."
Said, "Okey dokey"
Everything back fine.
This was after I entered "Can't get Mail," "Can't use mail," "Mail Problems" "Mail doesn't send," etc. on Apple Support, Apple Support Forums, etc. Each Search would return "Nope. Doesn't exist. YOU'RE THE VERY FIRST PERSON TO EVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM."
So....thanks to a lot of help on this board....and some intuitive thinking....and of course I backed up the entire 5000 file/folder Mail folder in the library on the external before doing anything. It is apparently "fixed" (Well, at least for ONE Account). I'll be attempting to add the other three accounts today and see if I still am "lucky." Hope this will help others that type in the search "can't get email" or "mail crashes" or "Mail unexpectedly crashes" and get answers instead of "Nope. Nothing here like that!"
Again. Thanks to everyone for their insight and help. Cheryl, I think you sent me down the right path for sure!!
