Mailbox problem

Hi folks, About a week into my first iMac - thought I would create a special mailbox to direct family related emails, somehow zigged when I should have zagged and, poof, all of the emails from my inbox are now in my special family mailbox. How do I undo what I've created without deleting all of those emails while returning them safely to the inbox where they belong?
