making a restore image in OS X 10.3.9

Hi. I work on a high school publication staff where we use macs. I need a little help getting the machines we use running a little easier for future staffs. At the end of every year, we completely uninstall everything from the adobe programs we use to the OS then reinstall everything one step at a time and because only a few people, myself included, on staff are at all tech literate, it takes two weeks to complete this task. I want to speed up this process. How can I create a dmg image of a machine that we just finished cleaning up? We have 6 Power PC macs and 3 Intel Core 2 Duo Laptops. The Power PC machines we have, based on the age and available memory, can only get the OS to 10.3.9 and the laptops are running on the latest version on Leopard. I know I will need to make two separate images, but I don't know how to make the images. Anyone have answers?

You can boot from an OS X install CD/DVD and use Disk Utility to make an image of the hard drive in disk image form, then use the same procedure to perform a "Restore from disk image" procedure when you're ready to reload.

The easiest solution, though, is to use Carbon Copy Cloner -- available for free (and easily found with a simple Google search), and it's exactly what you need.

From what I understand, you want to make an image of the hard drives in a "pristine and fresh" state, then at the end of the year, use that image you made to reload the computers -- negating the need to reinstall OS X, reinstall Adobe, reinstall printers, etc. Yes?
