Making clips of MPEGs

Hi

I have a video I'd like to make a small clip of. iMovie won't work because the video's too big. I tried Streamclip but that lost the audio. Is there any freeware I can download to use with OS X 3.9.1?

It's not freeware, but I'd recommend QuickTime Pro as the most convenient method for cutting, pasting, clipping, trimming and moving around video clips.

Okay - I bought Quicktime Pro and now when I open the video in it it I get a text at the top of the screen saying 'Player trial plays first half of movie.' This is a home video sent to me on CD and had a wmv tag, which I've changed to a mov tag. It opened and played fine - all the way through - before I upgraded! Help!

Not only that, the quality of reproduction in Quicktime is crap compared with that in Windows Media Player. Buying Quicktime Pro hasn't been a great success!

You didn't say that you were playing Windows media files using the Flip4Mac codec. To edit those, you also need the paid version of Flip4Mac. As for the blurriness, that is probably due to the fact that your Mac display is sharper which makes the inherent blurriness of your video stand out.

I didn't know I was using a Flip4Mac codec - or even what it is! I don't own a PC. I was simply opening the wmv file in Quicktime. It played okay in both Quicktime and Windows Media Player before I upgraded to Quicktime Pro. Then I converted it to a .mov file with QT Pro and the quality went to hell.
