Married? Or how would ...

Those of you who are married - how did you ask your wife or husband to be with you (get married) ?

And those who aren't ... how would you ask? Even if you don't think you have a gf / bf / the right one around you right now.

I'm just curious how creative the Mac users are in this scene ... :D

[PS. just curious.]

one one knee on a frozen frog pond in boston commons. it was around 11 at night so there weren't many folk around and the ice-skating was closed. those who were around were nice enough to applaud though. oh, this was all after a nice dinner and seeing the nutcracker at the wang.

i had a great plan, but it was foiled by my now wife. we were following her parents down the hi way, and I wanted to stop off to go through these awesome flower gardens, under the lights and stars this one night. (her parents knew about it)
but she, being the good daughter she is/was, didn't want her parents to get worried when they didn't see us driving behind them. (her father was trying to help me, and was speeding like a maniac, to lose us anyway!)
so finally, she nixed the whole idea, and we just kept on driving. so I proposed while going about 80mph on the highway. makes for a good story now, but she felt like she ruined the whole thing when she found out all the details. it's good for some laughs.
:)

The story with all its details would be very long and complicated... but for the end of it... I came back from Zurich to Neuchatel one day when she didn't expect me... I waited for her at the lycee's door... and I asked her.

Yeah, I figured. Notice the frequent mentions of the fact that she's 'just interested' :D

The best solution is to spend less time behind your computer .... or do you want to marry the computer ?

... no, i'm not spending all my time in front of computer ;) (and not just me spends the time in front of my mac)

I am considering too seriously a [job!] commitment which would be long-ish, and far-ish, and .. nah, just came in mind.

Since I live in Miami, and that's where I met my wife, I proposed to her at the fountain by the Hard Rock Cafe at Bayside Marketplace (it's basically an open-air mall by the bay in Downtown Miami). Of course, we already knew we were going to get married...it was just a matter of semantics. :p But it was a nice romantic evening of dinner (Olive Garden) and music (played by the water at Bayside). We are now married for 4 years and have a 2-year-old boy (about to turn 3) and another boy on the way.

I'm married for 20 years since May 11th. Not boring at all... we always find new reasons to fight :) (just joking)

I had been joking that if my girlfriend and I were to marry, her dad would need to give me a herd of goats and a barrel of banana beer as a dowry.

She got me a big wooden piggy-bank like thing, but it was a goat. In it was a letter where she asked me to marry her. I accepted, and we've been married about two years, but her dad still hasn't made with the beer...

lol

...first try...
"Honey, they're going to make it LEGAL in Hawaii. Want to go to Hawaii?"

...a couple years later...
"Honey, they have Civil Unions in Vermont. Want to go to Vermont?"

...still a couple of more years later...
"Honey, Mayor Newsom is marrying gays at City Hall! Want to go to City Hall?"

...a month later...
"Honey, we missed our opportunity at City Hall, but we can still go to Oregon. Want to go to Oregon"

...Unfortunately the answer always has been "Let's wait for 'real marrage'. Marriage that's leagal in all 50 states and recognized by the federal government."

I've been waiting 13 years already. I hope I live long enough to hear my man say "I do"!

You could come to Canada - same sex marriage is available in at least three provinces right now (B.C., Ontario and Quebec), and same sex marriages from those provinces are recognized in all provinces. Well, it might be a fight in Alberta, but Alberta's not really part of Canada, some misplaced Texan counties.

Pretty soon (assuming the Conservative party doesn't win the federal election next month, and heaven help us all if they do) it will be available in all provinces.

Of course, you'd have to see how the US would recognize the marriage when you came back.

Really scruffy do you honestly think a new govt' in Ottawa will make a hill of beans difference in your life? BTW I hope for your sake there aren't many Texans on here :D Would be kind of nice to have a story to relate to the forum but alas I guess it's not meant to be :(

...oh yeah... Canada...

If you have to go to another friggin' country I guess it's good that it is at least on the same conentent.

Massachusetts, I just heard, will allow same sex marriages from today midnight. Ask him if he wants to go to Massachusetts ;)
