Hi there,
my mac book pro 4.1 with SL 10.6.8 has stopped playing sounds altogether whether it is on headphones or internal speakers.
When doing opt+ click on the volume button I can see that Internal Speakers or headphones are still selected and everything should be playing. Plus I do not have a red light in the headphone socket that I would get if it had switched to digital mode.
When I start my laptop it won't make the start up sound at all...
When looking at my system profiler I do not see any problems with hardware.
The only for me to get sounds is through the use of an external interface.
I cleared my SMC and Tried to restart with PRAM
