Measuring network (PPP) traffic?

Hello there,

I'm looking for a utility that will measure the amount of data transferred through the PPP connection during a certain period. So far I've only been able to find network monitors that display current throughput, put none of them counted the total amount of data transferred.

I suspect this can be accomplished with what is available in BSD subsystem, but it is over my head.

Any suggestions/pointers?

NetBarrier the famous mac firewall solution has this funcition .... it can also send an email or create an HTML file ....

Maybe over the internet you can find may other similar solution .... but at the moment i've no ideas ....
