Merging old AppleID with .Mac account.

Does anyone know if there is any way to merge an old AppleID account with a .Mac account? I downloaded a number of iTunes songs through a GMail account on my old PC, and I'd just kind of like to have everything in one place, so I don't have to worry about authorizing part of my collection with this old account (that I plan on retiring).
 
Anyone have an answer? If I try to change my email on my old AppleID account, it tells me that there's "no need" as .Mac accounts already have AppleIDs attached.
