Microsoft Excel X: Loses "1904 Date System" Setting

Hello,

I have a spreadsheet that must be shared with Windows users, so I unchecked "1904 Date System" box in the "Calculations" tab of the preferences, but it seems to automagically revert to being checked after a while. I can't think of any pattern of actions that I'm taking that causes it to revert.

I suppose I could write a macro that would check the setting and make sure that it was unchecked, but then users of my spreadsheet would be exposed to the annoyance of the dire-seeming warning that Excel pops up about macros.
