Microsoft Office not working

Whenever I use Microsoft office an error message pops up which says I cannot use Microsoft Word because of a problem and that I might need to reinstall the software. i tried reinstalling it but it only worked for a day.
 
I sure it will be helpful to know what that message really says (word-for-word?)
What version of Office, and what OS X version?
 
It says check with the developer to make sure microsoft word works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

The version is a Mac OS X 10.6.7 (10J869)
