Migrating Mail from Evolution to Entourage

Hello everyone. I am new to OS X, having been in Linux for years now. I am wondering if there is a way to migrate mail from Evolution 2.x into Entourage? I could do a lot of manual copying and renaming, most likely, but don't want to do that or reinvent the wheel if someone has done this already. :D

So far, the change to OS X has been quite nice!

Thanks all.

Evolution doesn't have an "export" command like Mac users are used to. However you can select all the eMails in an Evolution folder (Edit > Select All), and then "save as..." to /tmp or wherever you want. This is basically a .mbx (or mbox) file. Entourage will import from an mbx file. Mail.app stores all it's eMail in mbox format - or at least it used to. I know you can do this in the Ximian version, but I don't know about the Novell version.

Thanks Xero.

I'm using Dropline Gnome and mail is stored in mbox format but no export function like you said. Oh well. I'll just use some bash shell scripting to copy stuff to Mail then import it from Mail to Entourage. I was hoping to maintain my folder structures. Heck I may not even stay w/ Entourage anyway. I've only had my Mac a little over a week. So many new tricks to learn.

the whole point was to get it into mbox. if it already is, then you're one step closer. open entourage and select Import from the file menu. Then select Import information from a text file. then import messages from an MBOX-format text file. you'll be good to go.

The odd thing is that Entourage will not allow me to choose the files. Only directories. All files are greyed out. To get things started I just used file, grep and awk in a bash one liner to copy most of the files.
