Mobile account management

I have a laptop user whose home folder was on local drive before, and I just changed his home folder to a network server.

After the user login to the laptop for the first time, I did a Home Sync and found some of the local files were removed! Luckily enough I did a backup before the Home Sync, so was able to recover all his files. But the synchronization with the server never happened again afterwards. And the Sync Conflict window pops up all time on user's laptop, I found that the Sync program tried to Sync every file with the local copy, since somewhere in the laptop's system, the user's home folder is still pointed to the local home folder, thus the Sync program always finds conflict on each file.

My question is how can I updated the local cached mobile user account with the server, without removing the user account locally and recreate it from the scratch?

Thanks in advance for any help!
