Modem Init Strings

Hello,

My dial up 56K modem is currently connecting at a speed of 28,800bps. When I had a PC, I was able to enter some coding that made my modem connect at a faster speed. I did some Googling and found where to enter these codes in older versions of OS (pre-OS X), but nothing for OS X. Is such a thing possible for OS X.3.4?

Before even messing with such init strings, why not try going to System Preferences->Network, configure your internal modem and make sure that it is set to use the v.92 standard.
