Moderation On This Forum (And Board)

Recently, two threads have raised 2 questions again. Question 1 was whether moderators/admins on this forum/board don't allow humour. Please understand that the editing of a post didn't happen because its humourous content, but because the post could very well be misunderstood as racist.

The second question that came up was about whether or not this forum/board is 'ruled by Nazis'. (The question came up because the first question came up.)

Please read the board rules. You'll find a link to them at the top of each page. We're moderating the forums we're assigned to according to those rules.

(One of the threads has been moved to 'opinions', by the way, another one had to be deleted.)
 
Thank you. I have found some other boards which are not so closely moderated. So if some feel constrained here, well there are other communities out there.
If a community is going to have long term stability, there have got to be rules.
My gut feeling is that some other forums that have grown rapidly lately are going to shrink just as rapidly and suddenly. They are considered "cool" because the rules appear to be pretty loose.That which is cool now may not be cool tomorrow.

The moderators sometimes are too strict. They've deleted my post about my 500th posts in the macosx.cafe while the thousands threads about a Happy Birthday ARE allowed there.

as you all know, we have many new moderators. they are going to make a few mistakes as they learn. please don't expect perfection out of them over night. however it was i who removed solrac's post and then posted it to our moderator's forum for discusion. that post will not return.

for those who feel threatened by so many moderators, i have to wonder why. if you aren't breaking the site rules, what difference does it make if there are 5 or 50 moderators?

senne - i've returned your "499" thread to the cafe. while i agree with my mods that such posts are on the verge of spam and we have had several threads like this in the past that have turned into nothing more than post count races, i'll give this one a chance for now. if it gets out of hand, we'll just close it.

in all seriousness, i didnt edit the "racist" post because i didnt find offense or any rule breaking in my interpretation of the rules, but, this is why we have multiple moderators here, because we have different opinions etc.

basically all i ask for is respect each other as much as you can and try not to make personal insults and the such at each other :)
 
yea, i'm not sure if toast should be warned for personal attacks or thanked for the compliment :p

(and if you're going to include me in your attempts at humor - spell the name right:D but then again, i am talking to the guy who meant to call himself Buddha ;) )
 
actually stuff like that works good for me, because i say it in an obviously joking manner and it breaks the ice with a little laughter ;)

and so sue me im a little dislexic ;)

and no its not supposed to be buddha :p
