Do you have to use an Apple Monitor with a G4?

No, you can use any monitor with a G4, if the monitor has a VGA connector. (That is the normal connector for the standard CRT display)

The newer G4 have also a ADC connector, where you can only attach Apple displays, but there is an adaptor to use DVI displays also.

www.mosr.com (messages can be updated) is speaking about reviced Appledisplays for notebooks and desktops (especially flatpanel, larger, higher resolution). It is not clear for Mosr that it will be there in the short future.
