Monitor Not Working - Remains Black

I have a Blue Mac Tower G-3 (6 years old) and all of a sudden when I turn on the computer the screen on the monitor remains black. The monitor has power as the power light is on. The monitor is a ViewSonic CRT Model V70f+ and is about 2 years old. The little battery in the computer has never been changed. Is it possible that could be causing the problem or is it something else. Obviously the monitor could be bad, but I'd wondered about a computer problem? Anone with ideas? Thanks in advance.

Its most likely the monitor that has failed, though probably not catastrophically. Its unlikely that a PRAM battery failure would give you a blank screen. I'd try hooking the monitor up to another computer to see if it does work, and if it doesn't, then its off to your local TV repair place to be fixed up ... unless of course ViewSonic to repair it under warranty.

That's exactly what a bad Pram battery will do.
Change the battery before doing anything else.
