BBEdit Lite 6.1 for OS X;

MATLAB 5.0

I had some problems getting this screen shot. It seems that MATLAB 5.0 and Grab don't play well together, or the new 256MB RAM ( 640MB total) is causing problems. I used PrintToPDF in Mac OS 9.1 to get the "MATLAB Command Window" and "Figure No. 3". PrintToPDF is an Adobe Acrobat "clone" (well not quite, but it does the job) available at http://www.versiontracker.com and http://www.macupdate.com. BBEdit Lite 6.1 for OS X was downloaded from http://www.macosxapps.com, just click on "Apps: Productivity" along the left side of the web page.

In the BBEdit Lite 6.1 window, you can see part of a MATLAB program (script) I wrote that computes the concentration of several species in time in a hypothetical chemical reaction in which an electron and a proton form a hydrogen atom. The program was a solution for an assignment in my chemical kinetics class last fall semester. Line 39 begins the routines for calculating the concentration of species in solution. This class was essentially a differential equations class and at the end of lines 42 through 44, you can see my attempts at solving the differential equation and commenting out the code with a "%" at the beginning of the line. I learned to program in MATLAB from taking a full year course in Numerical Analysis.

Basically just showing the nice background image and my newly acquired additional 512MB RAM.

Control-click (Right click for those with 3-button mice) on "Forest.saver" and select "Show Package Contents".
New window opens called "Forest.saver".

X48.

"Porphyrin_Synthesis.pdf" shows all the steps to making normal tetraphenylporphyrin, N-confused tetraphenylporphyrin, and metallation of porphyrins. "ol9910114.pdf" is an American Chemical Society journal title "Organic Letters"; It is a relatively recent publication describing easy and efficient synthesis of N-confused tetraphenylporphyrin. The window "HP48GX" is a program called "X48" that emulates my one and only all purpose calculator, the Hewlett Packard HP48 GX Calculator. The emulator X48 was downloaded from http://www.versiontracker.com. The calculator can be purchased from http://www.hp.com/calculators. FREE software for Hewlett Packard calculators can downloaded at http://www.hpcalc.org/.
