More than one library?

I have a G4 running OSX 10.4.... and have recently had problems with frequent crashing etc so I cleaned it up with 'TechTool'. I created an e drive to run it from so that I could perform all of the operations on my main hard drive.
Somewhere along the way I have lost many bits of information such as printer drivers, ICC profiles, 1000s of emails, my address book etc.
I am currently trying to claw back bits of this from various sources but have noticed that i now have more than one library? How do I know which one is active? One is IN my system folder the other is outside of it on my hard drive.
I have also just found some of my profiles on the e drive?
How can I get them back in the correct place?

Dave.

You are mistaken. There are three Libraries for each user. Each home directory has its own Library. This is the Library that you see in your Finder window sidebar. It holds the files and settings specific to your account. There is one global Library at the root level of your hard drive. This Library holds the data and settings specific to globally-installed software. All accounts use this Library. The third Library is inside the System folder. All accounts also use this Library. The files in the System/Library should be left alone. A lot of users have gotten themselves into a world of trouble by futzing with the System/Library.
