Mount Disk Image

How do I go about mounting a disk image? I have heard people refer to it but im not sure how it is done.

Just double click the .dmg file. If the .dmg is a hard drive disk image it will go through a rather long verification process which will give you a skip button to click, which I highly recommend doing unless you like waiting for long periods of time. The mounted image then appears on your desktop.
