Howdy
Pretty new to OSX, and we're just testing it out now in order to see how it will 'fit' with the rest of our systems. We're a post production house, and use SGI machines to add effects to video work. We use Macs for Photoshop, After Effects, stuff like that, and would be nice to be able to render directly to these SGI machines.. hence OSX.
Anywho, I can't seem to mount the NFS hard drives for these machines. I go to 'Connect to Server' and put in the IP- I get an error where it seems the computer is trying to connect via Appletalk, the error reading 'afp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'
I do have Appletalk shut off on the machine, so I don't think thats it. I've also entered the SGI machine's IP into NetInfo Manager, and that works via my browser.
But, I was able to connect to the SGI machine via the Terminal. I was then able to go back to Aqua and dig around into my User folder (where I put the alias to the disc) and once I double clicked the icon representing the mounted disc, it appeared on my desktop. From then on I could use it as much as needed.
So.. it appears I can get to the disc, but its a bit of a workaround. Shouldn't I just be able to 'Connect to Server' and go thataways?
Thanks for all the help. I very much appreciate it.
