Mouse slow after plugging something in keyboard hub..

when I plug a device, for example my digital camera into my pro keyboard the mouse pointer gets slow and I have to open mouse prefs to get it going again... WHY ?
 
I have it too. When i just disconnect my mouse and put it back again after a second, the speeds jumps to 'slow'. It's even after i have played Quake 3 Arena...
Using a Ruby iMac 450 Mhz, OS X 10.1.2
 
I have a cube,

the normal keyboard and mouse, keyboard plugged into apple studio display, together with the speakers. (apple commercial setup :) )
The mouse control panel is able to fix the mouse speed again, in fact when I go there, the slider is at the default setup but it's kind of a drag to do this all the time when I plug something in the keyboard...
