Moving address book

I just bought a Mac Book Pro laptop and would like to move my address book from my desktop mac over to the laptop. Could I export it to a thumb drive and import it to my laptop? Or, is there more to it. I also have a firewire connector to join both computers if necessary.

Or if you use iCloud/mobile me/.Mac (whatever you want to call it), you could also use that to synch the addresses, now or make it synch them permanently.

Yes, you can export the Address Book addresses to a USB drive and then import them to the new Mac as another method. (File > Export and Import)

Congradulations on getting the new Mac Book Pro.

So if this truly is a new Mac Book Pro did you transfer you information yet from you old Mac? Get a USB2, Firewire cable and connect both Macs. Then once you know you have a good connection on the new Mac go to /Applications/Utilities/Migration Assistant. This way you can import certain Data ands maybe some other stuff you want to keep.

One two words of warning about Migration Assistant: Just make sure you DON'T transfer over Networking information and very old programs.

Then after all that on the new Mac open system Preferences->iCloud and sign into iCloud with your Apple ID/password (this is you iTunes Account or a username/password you use to buy at online Apple Store). Then put checkmarks in all the boxes you want to sync. After that go back into the main System Preferences and then choose the pane. Highlight the iCloud part and make sure all those boxes match the iCloud pane boxes.

Now your Calendars, etc will be available to sync and online at iCloud.com.
