multi-button mouse

I have a 3-button Logitech mouse. Under OS9, it came with a control panel (MouseWare) that let me program buttons 2 and 3 to send any keystroke/click modifier I wanted, and all was good. Logitech does not yet support any such software for OSX, however, and MouseWare doesn't even run in classic.

My mouse functions correctly under OSX for those programs that are designed to deal with a multi-button mouse (i.e., XFree86), but I'm looking for a way to mimic MouseWare's functionality for other applications. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Spend $30 to get a Kensington Mouse-in-a-Box Optical Pro. Five buttons, chording (pressing 2 buttons simultaneously for even more commands), scroll wheel, excellent support (drivers updated whenever OS X is), and it's optical!
Love this little sucker! :D
