Multi-port JetDirect 500 Question

Hi,

I have an external jetdirect 500 printserver with 3 parallel ports. In the PC world of drivers these are designated by port 9100, 9101, and 9102.

I have a mac running panther and need to know if there is a way to set up IP printing to a specific port on a specific IP address. I've used the Print and Fax config to load the definitions and IP...but it doesn't seem to have a section to specify a port #.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, this can definitely be done on OS X.
In Printer Setup, hold down the option key while clicking ADD (on 10.4, hold option key while clicking More Printers - after clicking Add). Select Advanced from the bottom of the next menu. Then select App Socket/ HP Jetdirect. when you fill in the URI, it will be like this:
socket://[IP of Jetdirect]:9100
socket://[IP of Jetdirect]:9101
socket://[IP of Jetdirect]:9102

This is an extremely delayed response to this thread....my company black-holed this site indadvertantly for a while.

Anyway...gsahli...I wanted to tell you that your solution for the multi-port jet direct was right on target and very helpful.

Great support. I really appreciate it.

Thanks
