Multiple httpd processes running?

I'm not sure if there should be, but every time I look in the process viewer there are more and more httpd processes running. They all have a different ID number but everything else seems to be the same. Right now there are 4 that are running under "www" and 1 under "root". Do I need all of these? They just seem to keep spawning every time I look. There were about 10 at one point the other day. They all go away after restart but then start growing again. There are also a lot of "nfsiod" all running under "root". I've read about what that is but I guess I'm not sure if I do need it at all. I've been using the server with php and mysql and it's running great!

Also, probably an unrelated question: I can't get NetInfo Manager to start up. I click it and it thinks for a second and doesn't open. I thought I could look in there for some way to turn these off. I know I can do it in the terminal but I'd hate to do it every time.

Any thoughts?

That's kind of what I was thinking. I was confused because I knew that there weren't any users viewing my site. I won't worry about it then. I'm still looking for info on the NetInfo thing. It's frustrating not to have it but I guess I haven't had a need for it yet. I want to reinstall it but it doesn't look like you can install individual items from the 10.1 disk. I may try to grab it from my computer at work -- it's working there. Thanks!:)

For using NetInfo, there is a *lot* of information on using it from the command line in the man pages. Unfortunatly, its a lot to read and its not entirely straight forward. If the app is quitting suddenly, there may be system libraries it needs that are not present. ???
