Hi!

I was wondering if there are any musicians here?

I would like to know how much you can get out of a toprange Mac?

Lets say,Powermac DP1250Mhz(fully expanded!) machine.I would like to know how many Audiotracks with effects and Softsynths with effects you can get out of a Powermac.

Can someone give me any data?

Thanx

Logic platinum supports 256 stereo tracks with OSX, this isn't exactly the answer you're looking for. But I suppose you would be limited by the software you are using. Does the G4 have a hardware limitation, other than RAM and avaiable slots?

ProTools will give you as many tracks your RAM and HD space can support. That can be MANY tracks :).

Hi,Oldfriend form Neowin! :)

How are you?

I still have no Mac :(

Some guy still havent said when i will pick up my mixer(48 channel).

When that one is sold i will have the biggest Mac!

And i still wont have to sell the rest of my old instruments to get it! :)

Do you still have a PC?

I have some skins you can use for it!

I'm fairly certain this is not true.

Are you talking about the ProTools LE or the professional one?

The pro one does all of its processing with outboard hardware and basically uses the RAM/CPU in the Mac just for the UI... not for any of the audio processing work.

As for ProTools LE, while it does leverage the Mac host CPU/RAM, I really don't beleive that it can support an unlimited number of tracks... After all, "LE" means "limited edition"... (Same thing for that older ProTools Project system...)

It has been many years since I've spent time in a recording studio, so this no longer qualifies as my area of expertise, but I still don't think that is right...
