My desktop is locked

"the folder desktop could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access priveleges"

I dont have no idea what i did
I have mac os x version 10.3.9 can someone please help me!

The + sign should not show up on 10.3.x, I believe, because that's the ACL representation in 10.5, isn't it?
 
So... the current guess would be that the user changed her shortname accidentally/intentionally and is having problems now - or that there are actually two user folders, one named katharine and one katharin?
 
- the Desktop is owned by admin, and not katherin(e)
You need to change the ownership of that Desktop folder.

We had a similar thread here a while ago (2006) where the user also ran Panther and saw the exact error message as you:

My Desktop Is Locked!!!!! Help!!!! Please!!!

The advice that was given involved some Terminal coding and although it didn't appear to resolve the issue ... after the OP simply created a New Folder on the Desktop it was apparent that the issue had been rectified and the permissions appeased ....
