My G5 won't read dvd's

I have a G5, system 10.3.9.
I can read cd's fine, but lately it won't read dvd's. It takes them in, sounds as though its doing something, then ejects them.

Any ideas whats going on?

(PS. I have tried the discs in other machines and they are fine, also it happens to ones which have been written from my machine as well as from other machines)

HAve you attempted a firmware upgrade on the G5? Check the list below for the one listed for your G5 machine.

Hello man, I guess you simply have to clean the whole computer. Take a CO2 can of compressed air and feel free to clean the entire machine and especially your cd/dvd drive. Than take a DVD cleaning disk and play it as many times as it is necessary to get your DVD reader as good as it used to be. Good luck!
