my "help viewer" doesn't work - ironic, no?

Did you do a custom install and inadvertently exclude the help?

Try looking for the .plist preference files in /Library and ~/Library that have to do with the Help Viewe. If you find them, trash them. You could also create a new user account and see if it works there before you trash anything, that way you can eliminate which Library directory you have to access.

more info: when i look in system/core services,
i can see the help viewr and open it
sometimes, it open with a blank screen, sometimes, it give the first page.
but i can't search for a topic.

the thing i'm trying ot figure out, btw, is how to burn a cd, basically.
i downloaded a bootable cd from a friend,
it's now just an icon on my desktop -- though it says it's a CD
(how does that work, anyway?)
and now i want to turn it ito a REAL CD, so i can use it to reboot the system, and use it to scan my HD
i'm a novice at this -- how can i turn this icon of a cd into a real, burned CD?
or do i not have to do this? do i need to just leave this phantom CD on my desktop, and never "eject" it??
