my i book g4 stops durning start up

ive tryed repairing with the os x instal disks but that didnt help im only just starting to use macs and im allready up shit creek without a paddle HELP

Go to apple support at this address and this article takes you through some troubleshooting tips. I take it that you booted from the install disk and were able to use Disk Utility to see your hard disk and run Repair? Did you also get a chance to Repair permissions (each file has a permission setting that can get goofed up and deny the system access to needed files)?

You should post more details on what you saw during the Disk Utility sequence.

If you can boot from the install disks and see the hard disk on your desktop you should backup important personal files as your hard disk may be failing. Also make sure you have some empty disk space, there was another post along these lines that found he was out of hard disk space.
