All of a sudden my I MAC G5 is doing strange things:
It takes a very long time for the APPLE image to show up. A white screen stays on for at least 2 minutes before it slowly starts to boot up. Secondly when I connect to my I DISK it keeps wanting to synch with it and I cannot eject it to disconnect from my I DISK!
What is the problem?

HI Randy and Thank you for your reply.I could not find the folder of I Disk Sync, but I found the IDISK and for some reason it goes non stop sync, and I adjusted the distribution of mail and the rest which was divided into 20 gig and 20 gig to 37 and only 3 for mail.
Now I got a message telling me that IDISK on my computer needs to be adjusted and the folder will not be available to me. I presume it does it by itself? I really do not know what to do, Now even when just on GOOGLE changing from tab to tab is very long. It used to be fast.
I have no clue what I need to do!
THANKS for your help,
Sanda

I did follow the link but I did not quite understand what to do.
So I called APPLE and paid my $49 month of telephone support.
What they did is basically clean all the caches, shocked the computer and it is much better.
Then, I just got in the mail my new version of LEOPARD and tried to install it but the computer spits it out.
The guy was unable to help me so he signed me up for a meeting with a genius at our nearest APPLE store.

So that is my story in a nut shell!

THANKS RANDY for your help,
Sanda

THANKS RANDY for your help

My pleasure. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to help you completely via e-mail. But I'm sure that a visit with a Mac Genius will be very illuminating.

You might find this book really useful too:

HI randy- Again- THANKS SO MUCH.
Is there any thing you could recommend to figure out why the DVD drive rejects the leopard install DVD?

I tired it in my Mac Book and it takes the DVD fine. Though I can see my computer Hard drive desk top I cannot copy it into my G5 so I could install t this way?
Any ideas of how I could achieve the install from the laptop to the G5?

THANKS,
Sanda

At what point is the DVD rejected? Do you get an icon for the DVD on your desktop? Do you get an error message?

It may sound too simplistic, but you may want to try cleaning the shiny side of the DVD with a soft cloth. Only rub from the center outward and from the edge inward. Never rub in a circular motion. Even an almost invisible fingerprint can make an optical disk unreadable.

It may also be that your optical disk reader's laser lens is dirty. Have you had a problem reading any other optical disks?

You may be able to use one Mac, that *can* read the disk, to install the software on the other using "FireWire target disk mode." This allows you to connect the two computers together with a FireWire cable and transfer the files as if you were transfering from one drive to another (simple drag and drop). Zero configuration is required, and FireWire is much faster than 10Base-T Ethernet.:

Hi Randy:
I actually ended up at the Genius Bar and it recognized the CD from their own place. So we did the install this way.

A lot of other troubles also were solved. Namely being able to be back on the Internet and join my own network!

Thank you so much for your willingness to try and help.

They never said why the DVD did not work and their DVD did work!
All I care about is that now I am up and running!
THANKS again,
Sanda
