My iMac 21" MC508LL/A fan works non-stop

Hello:)

After upgrading my iMac to Lion OS X fan works non-stop when it's on.

I did smc reset, no result.

I did hardware test and got the error: 4SNS/1/40000000: TH00-9.000.

Could you tell me what the problem is?

That indicates a problem with the temperature sensor for the internal hard drive.

Are all vents clear of dust?

Have you taken the iMac apart at all? Perhaps reassembling it dislodged some kind of cable.

For that particular iMac, it seems that Apple is using a proprietary SATA cable (or something) to detect the hard drive temperature, as found from a little bit of Googling:
