This is probably for several weeks now, but I cannot put my iMac to sleep anymore.

I am running System Version: Mac OS X 10.4.10 (8R2218) with all updates.

Any hint ?

In my experience, this can be caused by:
new hardware (inside or plugged in)
programs
sleep settings

Try removing all external hardware except your apple mouse & keyboard first. If that doesn't work, look for a corrupt sleep/system preferences file. Finally, check to see if any background processes are running via Activity Monitor. Attempt to quit processes you cannot identify.

It wouldn't hurt to do the usual repair/permissions/maintenance/pram

I stopped a few services (like Internet sharing) and now it's ok. Thanks for the hints !
