My Jumpdrive says it's full when it's not. Help!

When I put files on my pen drive, sometimes for no reason I can see, it decides it is full. When I get info on the device, it says there is plenty of free space, (normally 300-500 mb, on a 512 drive). Like right now, I have 14 megs, FOURTEEN! used, and macos won't let me put anything on it because it thinks it's full.

I have done some googling around, I know there's problems with the NTFS file format, but this disk is in FAT, the mac says "Macintosh PC Exchange (MS-DOS)", I assume it's the same thing...

My system, well, the system I'm using, (my compy's a PC... and it works!) is an eMac, running Mac OS X 10.3.9. Processor: 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 512 MB DDR SDRAM.

Please help, this is driving me nuts!

If you have deleted any files on the pen drive they are stored in the trash on that drive and still use space. Try emptying the trash.

No, I know that's not the problem.

I even went and checked with my PC when it said the disk was full, and it agreed that it only had twenty megabytes used.
