my keyboard stops working

lately my keybaord and mouse freeze up and i am unable to do anything. i'm running through a self powered hub, could that be the issue. i jut plugged it straight in and its working better, but still glichy.
i have 27 gb of space and 1.12 gb of sdram and i'mm running panther on a g4. any suggestions?
