my User Accounts preference pane is blan

I am trying to activate software that us "timer" sensitive and I was told that the Tiger operating system is having a hard time reading the timer system and at this time we realized that when we go into preferences and you hit the Accounts icon, the message on top says "loading Accounts" but nothing loads up and we get a blank screen.
I dont know if this is gonna fix the system timer error but cant hurt.

Yep. First quit system Preferences. After doing that go to the folder /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ and find the file com.apple.systempreferences.plist . Then relaunch System Preferences and see if that helps the problem, good luck.
